Philly Tech Week @ Pennovation - Disrupting Cancer with Dr. Carl June [event recap]

Philly Tech Weekgoers had the incredible opportunity to hear from one the most brilliant minds on the front line in the fight against cancer, Dr. Carl June. On Tuesday, May 1st, PACT hosted a conversation between Dr. June and Penn's Osagie Imasogie, along with along with presentations from top Penn spin-out companies working in the fight against cancer.  With the discovery of the first gene therapy to be approved by the FDA, Penn Medicine is leading the world in immunotherapy research. Penn researchers are working relentlessly to realize the full potential of this innovative approach: reprogramming the body’s own immune cells to seek and destroy every last cancer cell. Dr. June is the leader of the team at Penn responsible for this historic CAR-T cell therapy. It was an honor to learn how Dr. June and other Penn innovators are disrupting cancer right here in Philadelphia.
