Philly Tech Week [recap]

The week of September 21st-25th marked the 10th Annual Philly Tech Week.  This year, the week-long celebration that showcases technology and innovation happening throughout the Greater Philadelphia region was hosted virtually.  Pennovation Works, as part of the Innovation @ Penn consortium was a sponsor of the initiative.  Members of the Pennovation community were featured on panels throughout the week.

On September 23rd, as part of Amplify Philly @ Home, Pennovation Works and Penn Center for Innovation (PCI) hosted a panel discussion with three local female entrepreneurs.  The panelists shared their experiences running their startups with moderator Laurie Actman Chief Marketing, Communications and Program Officer at PCI.  Panelists included Pennovation Center member Jessie Garcia, CEO and Founder of Tozuda, Adriana Vazquez, Co-founder and CEO of Lilu (and Startup Grind guest!) and Peggy Robinson, CEO of Caza.

On Friday September 25th as part of Introduced by Technical.ly, Anish Kumar, managing director of Pennovation Works participated on a panel called ‘How are Universities Economic Drivers? What more can they do?’ The discussion, moderated by Technical.ly’s Stephen Babcock explored how the most dynamic parts of the world tend to be centered around or near major research universities. The panelists shared examples of why and how University relationships with the communities they surround continue to change.
