Welcome to a new edition of Meet the Innovator! This month we have the opportunity to introduce Ben DeBenedictis, Pharmaceutical Process Development Engineer at Prohibix
Before we get to know Ben, let's get to know Prohibix:
Prohibix is an early stage company developing injectable therapeutics that stop the progression of tissue degenerative diseases and preserve quality of life. Our mission is to treat these diseases early through minimally invasive procedures in order to prevent the need for more invasive surgical interventions.

How long have you been working at Prohibix?
- Since July 2020
What do you find to be most rewarding about your work?
- I love getting to pull ideas from biology, mechanical engineering; all kinds of different fields to build something that is better than what is out there now.
What do you find to be the most challenging?
- Choosing what to work on and how to get results the fastest. There are so many experiments we could do but trying to focus on what is more important is definitely a challenge.
Do you have any key mentors or people who have deeply influenced you?
- I have a former coworker I still talk to all the time who gives me advice, put things in perspective, and figure out what is important. I listen to a bio-tech bloggers and I read their stuff they remind just how challenging things are and it keeps me focused.
What’s the best part about working at Pennovation?
- I like meeting all of the different people at the different companies and learning what they are working on. And the robot dogs - they make me laugh!
What’s been your favorite food truck that has come to Pennovation?
- EL TLALOC (this just might be everyone at Pennovation's favorite!)
Where are you originally from?
- I'm originally from outside of Philly, but spent most of my life moving around the country.
What’s the best part about living in Philadelphia?
- I would say the food is definitely up there but the culture and the history

- Unique, Gruff, and Genuine.
