Transforming the Lower Schuylkill

In 2010, a major study by the City and its partners found Philadelphia seriously lacking in modern industrial sites. The Lower Schuylkill was identified as a prime location to meet this critical need, and a subsequent planning process resulted in a blueprint for revitalization aimed at attracting a diverse array of new and growing businesses.

Led by the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation [PIDC], the initial implementation efforts have attracted nearly $100 million of investment, cleaned up 40 acres of contaminated brownfield, established 4 acres of new riverfront greenspace, and created a mile of new riverfront trail. Dozens of new companies have set up shop in the area and created more than 250 new jobs.

And this is only the start!
